Thank you for your interest in contributing to The Freelance to Freedom Project blog! Guest posts get shared in our weekly newsletter and on social media.

Here’s what you need to know:


TOPICS: Freelance to Freedom Project topics range from operating a successful freelancing business to marketing a freelance business, all geared toward freelancers who are starting or expanding their businesses. Our readers love simple actionable tips on a specific topic or examples of results that can inspire them.

Our readers are both freelancers just getting started with a side-hustle, and those that are farther along in full-time business but are looking to expand and grow.


Operations → Steps to starting or expanding a freelance business, online tool reviews/comparisons, legal and finance tips, systems or processes for solo-preneurs
Marketing → Effective websites, social media strategies, copywriting, networking, launching, advertising, email marketing
Productivity → Strategies, software/tools, processes to minimize admin time for specific tasks
Inspiration to step out of a 9-5!

CONTENT: Posts should focus on providing valuable content to our readers and must include practical, how-to/action steps readers can use immediately. Readers should walk away after reading your post thinking “Wow, this doesn’t seem so hard, I can implement it this week”. Your post should not aim sell any products or services (that’s what your bio is for!).

TONE: Conversational, first-person language. We love posts that genuinely provide useful tips for freelancers and entrepreneurs, no fluff.

LENGTH: Posts should be roughly between 600 and 1000 words.

FORMAT: Use headings/lists/bullets/italic/bolding where possible to encourage readability.

LINKS: Do not include links to your own stuff within the post content (that’s what your bio is for) but you are encouraged to add anchor links to relevant articles already published on FTFP.

IMAGES: If you have an image (that you own or one that you can use under Creative Commons) or screenshots that will help illustrate a point, please add where relevant within your post.

PROMOTION: Plan to share your guest post once it’s published on social media, link to the post from your website or blog if possible, and participate in the comments section after the post is up.

EDITING: We reserve the right to edit any piece submitted to The Freelance to Freedom Project

RIGHTS: Your post and ideas must be original, not previously published and copyright free.

EXCLUSIVITY: You agree that every post you write for The Freelance to Freedom Project will only be published on The Freelance to Freedom unless otherwise granted permission by the The Freelance to Freedom Project team.


  1. Your post needs to be submitted as an editable Google Doc. If you create in another program like Word, please copy and paste into a Google Doc.
  2. Title the doc with your name + the post title
  3. Add your name, email, website, Twitter handle at the top of doc.
  4. Add a bio (up to 300 words) and headshot at the top of the doc.
  5. Review above guidelines to ensure your post meets them.
  6. Review steps 1-4 to ensure you’ve completed them 🙂
  7. Share your Google Doc including editing capabilities with contribute@freelancetofreedomproject.com (No need to email as well, we’ll get a notification when you have shared the doc)

After Submission

Team FTFP will review your post and let you know if it’s been accepted. If it is not a good fit for our audience, you can use the post on your own blog or to submit somewhere else. If accepted, we will make any necessary edits and schedule to be published. You will be notified when it goes live and hope that you’ll be active in the comment section and share your post on social media.
