6 Website Myths That Are Success-Blocking Your Online Biz

What’s holding you back in your online business?

Time? Money? Lack of tech skills? Sure, those things affect EVERYONE. We all have the same amount of time in the day, we all have a finite amount of money and no one is born with amazing tech skills.

The real thing that’s holding back your online business is you.

Not sure if your website is working to help you get freelance clients? Here are 6 myths and what you need to know to grow your business with your website.

It’s YOUR MINDSET. You’re listening to all of the noise online and you’re buying into some of these common myths. But they are just that – myths.

Today I want to talk about 6 common website myths that are completely success-blocking your business.

Myth #1: I have to use WordPress for SEO

There’s a huge misconception that WordPress is inherently better than Squarespace for SEO.

This is a myth.

Squarespace has built-in features that boost SEO behind the scenes (like mobile-friendly websites, blog speed boosting, automatic redirects, etc.).

It’s also super easy to implement SEO best practices like “alt” tags on images, page titles, meta descriptions, and content readability. And I show you EXACTLY how to optimize your Squarespace website with some simple systems.

Myth #2: Squarespace isn’t customizable

Squarespace is every bit as customizable as WordPress. It has an easy-to-use drag-and-drop editor, style editor, the ability to inject custom HTML, CSS, or Javascript, and a library of sexy templates that you can swap out easily.

And, just like in WordPress, you can hire someone to build out a completely custom theme. But, you won’t need to do that with me, because in my Expert-Status Website service, I take care of ALL the design for you.

Myth #3: Squarespace doesn’t work with Leadpages, ConvertKit, etc.

Wrong again. Squarespace comes with loads of built-in integrations and plays well with all your major third-party apps. Leadpages, CovertKit, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Amazon Affiliates, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Acuity Scheduling, Bloglovin’, PayPal… you get the point.

And, hey, if you’re getting wigged out with the thought of touching Javascript, then you’ll love my no-stress custom guidance.

Myth #4: I have to be super techie

Here’s the deal. We all start at zero when it comes to tech things. But the people who get past that initial learning curve and find success in the digital space are the people who aren’t afraid to try.

You don’t have to be tech-savvy to build a website that works for your business, but you do have to be open to learning. And I tell you the exact process for setting up everything in The Expert-Status Website.

Myth #5: It will take A LOT of time

I’ll be honest with you. The part of your website that takes the most time is the copywriting part. So, if you’ve already got a good start on your website copy, then the rest of it will be a piece of cake.

You can literally design and build your Squarespace website in 2 days if you wanted to (I take my clients through a 2-week process just because we all have a tendency to get overwhelmed by #allthethings and this allows enough time for the lessons to really sink in).

Myth #6: I have to be creative or good at design

Truth slap: you don’t. If you’re one of those people that says, “I just don’t have an eye for design”, then that’s okay. You can still build a website that looks professional and gets results.

You just have to follow my step-by-step method. And, oh yeah, I’m actually doing the design for you! So all you have to do is the putting it together in Squarespace (which I walk you through every step of the way).

Let’s cut through the noise, open our minds, and forget about these bullshit myths so that we can move forward in growing our online businesses. As tough as it seems, you just need to find a partner you can trust.

You don’t have to do it all alone.
